WSJ: FCC Focusing on Telecommunications Customer Data Breaches

As reported in the Wall Street Journal last week, hackers breached T-Mobile’s system to obtain data for about 54 million people.  The hackers then attempted to sell the customer data.  The hackers’ approach is different than recent instances of ransomware, in which the hackers lock up systems and data for ransom.

Notably, according to the article, the Federal Communications Commission is investigating the breach.  According to the FCC spokesperson, the FCC will ensure telecommunications companies protect customer data.
